The age demographic that traditionally hosts Friendsgiving doesn’t always have access to a full kitchen, space to accommodate everyone or any of the expertise it takes to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner.
As a restaurateur, you have a great opportunity to stretch your restaurant marketing muscle and reach these people to make some extra business by helping them out.
Let people know what you have.
If you make a rocking apple or pumpkin pie, let people know. It may seem like common sense to you that you offer it up every year, but you need to draw attention to it in the right context. Give people a Friendsgiving deadline much like a regular Thanksgiving deadline, where they need to have their orders in by a certain date to be promised their pie.
Think outside the box.
So you don’t have a fully roasted turkey to be offering up for dinner. That’s fine, but do you have an awesome mac-and-cheese that people could be ordering? Do offer sauteed green beans in place of a green bean bake? This isn’t their grandmother’s Thanksgiving. Your guests have the option to be flexible here.
What else do you have to offer?
Even if you don’t host a classic Thanksgiving dinner, you may have a large dining room that can host a lot of people. Let your guest know that. You’ll stay on their radar, and likely be first on their list.

Can’t accommodate a whole Friendsgiving fête but still want to get in on the Thanksgiving action? Don’t forget that the night before Thanksgiving is a huge night for guests, especially millennials, to grab drinks and meet up with old high school friends while everyone is in town. Try running some specials on that night and take advantage of the influx of people home for the holidays.
