The people who love Valentine’s Day, really love Valentine’s Day. These are the people buying expensive gifts, making reservations at their favorite restaurants and spending big in an otherwise quiet month. Tapping into this crowd is going to make a big impact on the success of your Valentine’s Day.

You’ve already planned your Valentine’s Day promotions. It’s time to get the word out there on social media to get people excited and in the mood.

Host an Instagram Contest

Get people flooding your feed with photos by hosting an Instagram contest. The prize could be the best seat in the house for their reservation, a complimentary bottle of bubbly or a gift certificate for another date. Have your followers post of photo of themselves with the special someone they’ll be celebrating with, or photos from previous romantic dinners at your restaurant. Or, you could just have them tag their special someone in one of your posts, and if both people are followers, they could win. Try to use this as an opportunity to grow your audience.

Write blog posts

Leading up to Valentine’s Day, get a lot of content up on your site to get people in the mood. Talk about the menu being prepared and any of the special promotions that you’re working on. But also try to tap into the romance. Do you have a married couple on staff who met in your kitchen? What about a relationship that sparked between a server and the bartender? Think about your diners also, and try to share some romantic stories that happened in your restaurant. Who had their first date there, or met at your bar, or was proposed to? Reach out, and feature these customers.

Tweet up a storm

Get the conversation moving by taking to Twitter. Ask a lot of questions about the special people your audience will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with. Ask about traditions, memories and what they’re hoping for this year. Remember to keep an open mind and not be so traditional that you alienate some of your followers. Valentine’s Day means something different to everyone, and getting them talking about it will get them excited to celebrate.

Facebook Live

Get people excited about what’s going on by using Facebook Live. Take your audience back into the kitchen, into the wine cellar or behind the bar. Talk about what you have planned and what they can look forward to on Valentine’s Day.

Most of all, keep the mood fun, lighthearted and inclusive. Hopefully cupid will be spotted all over your restaurant.
